Welcome to Ionone's Roomful of Drums!

Because I am a musician too, I will share drum covers and vocal covers of popular songs here that I have recorded in my home studio. Music keeps the creativity alive.

"When drummers want to speak their minds they just shut up and play."--Ionone

Know Your Enemy - Rage Against The Machine
This is my current gold standard in my drum miking setup and clean drum sound mix. Dual overhead, spaced pair of cheap dynamic mics, snare miked top and bottom, kick drum mic placed in the kick drum four inches away from the batter, and a large condenser mic six feet away at four feet-height, pointed at the whole kit to capture the crisp highs. The clean drum sound compared to my old recordings I can attribute to the high quality preamps of the Focusrite interface that I am now using.

Heaven and Hell - Black Sabbath
Heaven and Hell is my favorite song from the Ronnie James Dio years of Black Sabbath. I first heard it when I was 9 and still love the song until now. RIP Ronnie James Dio. You are sorely missed but your music lives on.

Everybody Wants To Rule The World - Tears For Fears
For years, this groove has been a subject of debate as to how to play it correctly. With the help of other drummers in You Tube, I learned the right way to play it, as opposed to doing a left and right hand alternating 16th note beat, which I had been led to believe was the right way two decades ago.

Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24) - Trans Siberian Orchestra
Going symphonic rock/metal on this one. An all-time best-selling Christmas piece second only to Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You.

Don't Speak - No Doubt (Eds Abrio on Vocals)
A popular song covered by my friend, Eds Abrio, which I recorded and played drums to.

Somebody Told Me - The Killers
A favorite tune from The Killers whose drummer, Ronnie Vannucci, I have great respect and admiration for.
